Dry erase boards · OEM & wholesale
Dry erase board manufacturing sizes, surfaces and frames built for school and wholesale programs
The dry erase board is the core writing surface in most classrooms and training rooms — and the category where surface quality, frame finish and packaging decide whether a bid or listing succeeds. SlateForge builds dry erase boards for school procurement programs, teaching-aid distributors, stationery wholesalers, education brands and e-commerce sellers: wall-mounted and freestanding boards in standard classroom sizes, with melamine, painted steel or glass writing surfaces, aluminum or plastic frames, and your logo and packaging. Need a board that holds magnets? See our separate magnetic whiteboard page. For mobile classroom writing, see whiteboard easels.

Dry erase board types we build
- Wall-mounted dry erase boards — framed boards with mounting hardware for classrooms, offices and training rooms; the highest-volume format for school and wholesale catalogs.
- Freestanding dry erase boards — boards on a base or stand for rooms where wall mounting is not practical.
- Double-sided dry erase boards — writing surface on both faces, often paired with a rolling or easel frame.
- Combination boards — dry erase surface plus a cork or fabric bulletin panel in one frame (see also bulletin boards).
- Student and personal dry erase boards — lap-size or desk-size boards for individual student use, often sold in classroom sets.
Magnetic steel-surface boards are covered on the magnetic whiteboard page so each URL keeps one primary keyword.
Writing surfaces
- Melamine / laminate dry erase — coated particleboard or MDF; the usual entry and mid-tier classroom board.
- Painted steel dry erase — steel sheet with a dry erase coating; often magnetic (see magnetic page) and used for higher-traffic rooms.
- Glass dry erase — tempered glass writing surface for premium office and modern classroom lines.
- Porcelain / ceramic steel — durable coated steel for heavy-use institutional programs where buyers specify a harder surface.
Surface type, ghosting resistance and marker compatibility are set on the drawing and confirmed on samples — we do not publish durability ratings. Compare options in the specs guide.
Sizes, frames and mounting
Common classroom sizes (for example 2×3 ft, 3×4 ft, 4×6 ft and metric equivalents) are available as existing platforms; custom sizes are quoted when tooling and sheet stock allow. Frame options include aluminum (anodized silver, black or custom), plastic and wood-look. Mounting kits, tray / marker rails and accessory packs (markers, erasers, magnets) can be bundled. Dimensions and hardware are fixed per SKU and confirmed on pre-production samples.
Logo, color and packaging
- Printed or labeled frames — brand marks on the frame edge, corner badge or packaging.
- Custom frame colors — anodizing or powder coat matched to your line.
- Printed backs or corner cards — brand story, care instructions and barcodes.
- Packaging — corner protectors, cartons sized for school freight or parcel ship, barcodes and marketplace labels.
Who buys dry erase boards from us
School district and private-school procurement; teaching-aid and classroom furniture distributors; stationery and office-product wholesalers; education and stationery brands building a board line; and e-commerce sellers who need parcel- or freight-friendly packaging. Private label runs through OEM, stock models through wholesale. Many buyers pair boards with bulletin boards, pocket charts or classroom rugs.
Compliance — buyer-specified, not claimed
We claim no school certifications, fire ratings, child-safety test data or material listings on this site. Where your bid or retail channel needs third-party testing (for example material declarations, heavy metals or flammability for related soft goods), testing at a lab you choose or approve is available on request and quoted per SKU. Labels and claims are the brand owner’s responsibility.

Frequently asked questions
Melamine or steel — which dry erase board should my line use?
Melamine is the usual entry and mid-tier classroom board; painted or porcelain steel is chosen for higher traffic and when magnetic holding is required. Glass is typically a premium office or modern-classroom SKU. Compare samples for ghosting and wipe feel before deciding.
Is a dry erase board the same as a magnetic whiteboard?
Not always. A dry erase board is any board with a dry erase writing surface. A magnetic whiteboard is a dry erase board with a steel core that holds magnets. We keep them on separate pages so each URL targets one primary keyword.
Can you make custom sizes for school bids?
Yes. Standard classroom sizes ship fastest; custom sizes are quoted when sheet stock and frame tooling allow. Dimensions are confirmed on drawings and samples.
How strong is the magnetic surface on your whiteboards?
We do not publish magnetic pull-force figures or “magnetic grade” ratings on this site. Magnetic performance depends on the steel sheet gauge, coating and magnet type your program uses. You specify the magnet type and pull you need for classroom use; we build pre-production samples to that spec and you verify them — in-house or through third-party testing arranged on request. Any magnetic claim on your packaging or listing must come from that verification and is the brand owner’s claim. See the magnetic vs non-magnetic section of our specs guide.
What is the MOQ and lead time?
Both are quoted per SKU. MOQ depends mainly on the tooling (an existing mold or frame vs. a new design), material and finish, colors, logo method, packaging and any buyer-specified testing; lead time depends on customization, sampling rounds, testing and season. Send your quantities and we confirm both on the quotation — see also the packaging & MOQ section of our specs guide.
Are your classroom products certified for schools?
We do not claim any school certification, fire rating, child-safety standard, listing or test result on this site — no ASTM, CPSIA, EN 71, CAL 117, UL, CE, RoHS, REACH or similar marks. Compliance belongs to a specific SKU, a specific market and a specific sales channel: tell us the destination market, the channel (school district bid, teaching-aid distributor, stationery wholesale, e-commerce) and the standard, test or document your buyer asks for, and the quotation sets out how it will be handled — typically third-party testing at a lab you choose or approve, on production samples, available on request and quoted per SKU. See the compliance section of our specs guide or ask on the inquiry form.
